Innovative Pharmacist of the Year 2018 17 December 2018 Congratulations to South Australian pharmacist Kirrily Chambers who was named Innovative Pharmacist of the Year 2018. Kirrily is a true pioneer among Australian pharmacists. In 2009 she qualified as a Credentialled Diabetes Educator and became the first Australian pharmacist to combine the two qualifications. Since then more than 200 pharmacists have followed in her wake while hundreds more have completed graduate courses in diabetes education and care. Kirrily, who was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when she was ten, says pharmacists are uniquely positioned to provide support and knowledge to people with diabetes. Her pharmacy has its own clinical rooms where she can offer diabetes care and education services to people with type 1 and type 2 diabetes. Outside of work Kirrily is a strong advocate for people with diabetes. She has shared her powerful personal story of living with type 1 diabetes as part of our campaign for expanded access to CGM.
