Video call instructions A video call is a way for you to attend a scheduled appointment with your Diabetes Australia dietitian or diabetes educator. Video calls are as convenient as phone calls, with the added value of face-to-face communication. If you would like to see a dietitian or diabetes educator but do not have an appointment, please phone our team on 1800 177 055. How to join my appointment? To attend your appointment click on the join call button below. You will then enter your private waiting area online. Your diabetes educator or dietitian is notified when you are online, and they will join you when ready. There is no need to create an account. No information you enter is stored. Join video call What do I need to make a video call? A good connection to the internet. If you can watch a video online (e.g. YouTube) you can make a video call. A private, well-lit area where you will not be disturbed, and you can talk freely with your clinician during your appointment. One of these: Google chrome web browser, with Windows or macOS on a desktop or laptop, or on an Android tablet or smartphone. Safari web browser on an Apple desktop or laptop (MacOS), or iPad or iPhone. You will also need: Web-camera, speakers and microphone, which are already built into most laptops or mobile devices. If you are using your desktop, laptop or tablet please have your phone nearby in case there are any technical issues during your appointment. Your diabetes educator or dietitian will call you to continue your appointment via phone. Precall Test: You are able to test your equipment by clicking on this link prior to your appointment. What do I do if something is not working? Go to this link for troubleshooting. If you are unable to fix the issue, phone our customer service team on 1800 177 055. How much internet data will I use? You do not use any data while waiting to join your Video Call. A Video Call uses less than half of the data you would use while watching a YouTube video in High Definition*. Data use is less on lower-speed internet connections or if you are using a less powerful computer, tablet, or smartphone. These factors can also reduce the overall quality of the call. Data use increases when there are more than two participants in the call. *That’s about 230 MB on a mobile device, and 450 MB on a PC for a 20 minute call, which is similar to Skype® or FaceTime®. Getting ready to make video calls Make sure that you use one of the following web browsers: Google Chrome Version 72+ (Windows, Android, MacOS) Apple Safari Version 11.4+ (MacOS, iOS) Microsoft Edge Version 79+ (Windows, MacOS) Microsoft Edge Version 44+ (Android) Is it secure? Video calls are secure and your privacy is protected. You remain in your own private video room, that only authorised people can enter. Need more information?
