Healthy baked apples

These piping hot baked apples give you something to look forward to at the end of cold winter days. With this healthy and delicious recipe, you can have your apples and eat them, too.

2 green apples 

2 walnut halves 

2 Tbsp sultanas 

2 sprinkles of cinnamon 

¼ cup water 

2 Tbsp of natural reduced fat Greek yoghurt 


  1. Core the apples using a corer.
  2. Cut slits in the skin of the apples in any direction that looks decorative.
  3. Place a walnut half in the base of the apple and fill the cored apple with sultanas.
  4. Sprinkle with cinnamon.
  5. Place in a microwave-proof container with water and microwave for 5-7 minutes (depending on the strength of your microwave). Test if the apples are cooked by inserting a skewer or fork. Once past the skin, the apple should be soft.
  6. Serve with a spoonful of Greek yoghurt.
  7. Use a fork and spoon to eat.
