Staying healthy in the office 13 March 2019 Did you know sitting for long periods can have a serious impact on your health? This could be an issue if you have a desk job. Here are some tips to stay healthy in the office. Plan and bring a healthy snack Having prepared snacks helps you stay healthy during the day. Some snacks include carrot sticks and hummus; handful of nuts and seeds, small pieces of fruit. Pick the snack that’s right for you. Get an adjustable standing desk With all this talk about sitting – why not consider an adjustable standing desk. An adjustable standing desk forces you to exercise and can help keep you alert. Move around every once in a while If you can’t get an adjustable standing desk set a reminder either in your calendar or on your phone for every hour to stand up and have a walk around the office. Drink Water Have a bottle or glass of water on your desk. Water will help you snack less and drinking plenty of water will force you to get up and go to the bathroom. It will help you move and stay alert. Exercise before work and take the stairs Try incorporating a workout in the morning. It doesn’t have to be at the gym, it can as simple as taking the stairs or getting off one stop earlier. Wake Up Early Try going to bed a little earlier and getting up a few hours before you go to work. Just walking around the house or going downstairs helps to get the blood flowing and more oxygen to enter your body.
