Celebrating a decade of impact: thank you, Future Generation Australia 5 November 2025 On behalf of Diabetes Australia and the thousands of children, young people, and families we have supported, we extend our deepest gratitude to Future Generation Australia (FGX) for a decade of unwavering partnership. Diabetes Kids Fund Since 2016, FGX has invested more than $3.63 million into the Diabetes Kids Fund, enabling the creation and growth of the DiaBuddies program. This remarkable commitment has transformed lives, not only by funding events and resources, but by building a lasting community where no child or family has to face type 1 diabetes alone. Over the past 10 years, FGX’s support has allowed us to: Deliver hundreds of DiaBuddies Days and Family Picnics across metropolitan, regional, and rural communities in NSW, ACT, QLD, and TAS, providing fun, connection, and learning for families Facilitate online workshops and produce mental health support videos viewed thousands of times, ensuring support reaches into homes far beyond event days Launch and grow the DiaBuddies Youth Leadership Program, equipping young people with type 1 diabetes to become role models, mentors, and advocates for their peers Build a thriving DiaBuddies Parent Support Group, now with over 1,200 members, where families share advice, experiences, and encouragement every day Impact The impact of this work goes far beyond numbers. Thanks to FGX, children living with type 1 diabetes have met friends who “just get it”, parents have found peers who understand their journey, and families have learned practical skills that make everyday life with diabetes a little easier. Feedback from families tells us that DiaBuddies reduces isolation, builds confidence, and helps children feel proud, not defined, by their condition. FGX’s vision and generosity have been the cornerstone of this journey. Their investment has given families more than programs and events; it has given them hope, resilience, and a strong community to lean on. As we look ahead, we are excited to continue this partnership, reaching more families, exploring new ways to connect, and ensuring every child living with diabetes has the support they need to thrive.
