Vale John Turtle AO 2 April 2024 Diabetes Australia joins with our unifying partners at the Australian Diabetes Society in extending our condolences to the family of Emeritus Professor John Turtle AO following his sad passing at the age of 87. John (pictured above on the far left with Dr Alan Stocks AM, Dr Neill Decker OAM and John Townend AM) was a co-founder of the Australian Diabetes Society in 1973, receiving a much-deserved Lifetime Achievement Award from the ADS in 2019. He was also a vice President and Honorary President of the International Diabetes Federation, and his impact through this work will be felt for generations. Diabetes research changes lives, and John dedicated much of his prestigious career to that research. His contribution was substantial, with over 300 publications on topics including insulin action, epidemiology and a raft of other areas. The diabetes community mourns the loss of such an influential figure. Vale John Turtle AO
