Diabetes YOUnited Membership Terms and Conditions As at 20 June 2026 Diabetes Australia Limited (ABN is 47 008 528 461) is a public company limited by member guarantee, which is governed by a Constitution available on our website as amended from time to time (the Constitution), and is a charity registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission. When joining as a member of Diabetes Australia you agree to the Constitution and these membership terms and conditions. 2.0 Membership tiers There are three categories of membership of Diabetes Australia, Diabetes YOUnited Essential membership, Diabetes YOUnited Plus membership and Diabetes YOUnited Legacy membership. 3.0 YOUnited Essential Membership 3.1. Membership subscription Your Diabetes YOUnited Essential membership with Diabetes Australia is free of charge and provides access to certain basic benefits as outlined below. 3.2. Benefits of Diabetes YOUnited Essential Membership The current benefits of Diabetes YOUnited Essential membership can be found by visiting https://www.diabetesaustralia.com.au/membership/. These benefits are subject to change without notice. 3.3 Community Members – Attending General Meetings Diabetes YOUnited Essential members are “Community Members” under the Constitution. Community Members have the right to participate in Diabetes Australia by receiving notice of, and attending, Diabetes Australia General Meetings. They do not have a right to vote. 3.4 Upgrading Membership Diabetes YOUnited Essential members have the option to upgrade to a Diabetes YOUnited Plus member at any time and become general “Members” under the Constitution. This upgrade will expand your benefits as set out below and includes additional Constitutional rights and obligations including a right to vote at General Meetings of Diabetes Australia. To upgrade your membership please visit https://www.diabetesaustralia.com.au/membership/renew/ or call us on 1800 177 055. 3.5 Cancellation / ceasing to be a Community Member You can cancel your Diabetes YOUnited Essential membership at any stage by contacting Diabetes Australia using the contact details included at the end of this notice. Your membership as a Community Member will cease at this time. 4.0 Benefits of Diabetes YOUnited Plus and Legacy Membership The current benefits of Diabetes YOUnited Plus and Legacy membership can be found by visiting https://www.diabetesaustralia.com.au/membership/benefits/. These benefits are subject to change. 4.1 Diabetes YOUnited Plus and Legacy Members – Voting Rights Diabetes YOUnited Plus and YOUnited Legacy Members are general “Members” of Diabetes Australia as per the Constitution. When joining as a Member of Diabetes Australia you agree to the Constitution, which governs the rights and obligations of Members including voting at member General Meetings. 4.3 Membership Subscription: YOUnited Plus: Your YOUnited Plus membership subscription is paid in annual or monthly instalments. YOUnited Legacy: A one-time subscription covers membership of YOUnited Legacy for the lifetime of that member. 4.3.1 New members 4.3.1.1 Payment methods a. There are several ways you can pay your YOUnited Plus and YOUnited Legacy Membership subscription, via the Diabetes Australia website, over the phone. For YOUnited Plus membership you can choose to pay an annual fee or pay by monthly instalments. For YOUnited Legacy membership the lifetime subscription payment must be paid in one transaction at time of joining. b. To become a member you must pay for your membership via a credit or debit card. You can use Visa, MasterCard or AMEX credit or debit card and you authorise us to charge the Payment Method associated with your account. For YOUnited Plus membership if you choose to make an annual recurring payment the first payment will be made on the day you join and then on the same date 12 months later. If you choose to make monthly payments, the first payment will be processed on the day you join and then on the same date every month. It is your responsibility to have sufficient funds available in your nominated account by the payment date. You remain responsible for any uncollected amounts. If a payment is not successfully settled, due to expiration, insufficient funds, or otherwise, and you do not cancel your account, we may suspend your membership until we have successfully charged a valid payment method. We may re-attempt unsuccessful direct debits or contact you seeking instructions. Any dishonour fees incurred against your account by your financial institution are your responsibility. 4.3.1.2 Updating your Payment Methods Diabetes Australia will use the latest credit card details you have supplied to us for all recurring payments with Diabetes Australia. This includes all Membership and donation payments. If you have previously provided a different credit card to us for recurring payments (membership or donations), please note that this will now be replaced with the new credit card details. To make changes to your payment methods, you can contact Diabetes Australia. Contact details appear at the end of this notice. 4.3.2 Renewing members – YOUnited Plus 4.3.2.1 Payment Methods. a. Credit or debit card: You can choose to pay your subscription via credit or debit card via the Diabetes Australia website, over the phone or by sending in a membership form. You can choose to pay an annual fee or pay by monthly instalments. To renew your membership online you must pay your subscription via a credit or debit card. You can use Visa, MasterCard or AMEX credit or debit card and you authorise us to charge the payment method associated with your account. If you are making a once off annual payment your payment will be processed on the day you renew. If you choose to make an annual recurring payment the first payment will be made on the day you renew and then on 30 June every year. If you choose to make monthly payments, the first payment will be processed on the day you renew and then monthly from 30 July. If you renew your membership after the due date and choose to make an annual recurring payment the first payment will be made on the day you renew and then on the same date 12 months later. If you renew your membership after the due date and choose to make monthly payments, the first payment will be processed on the day you renew and then on the same date every month. If using a Debit Card, it is your responsibility to have sufficient funds available in your nominated account by the payment date. You remain responsible for any uncollected amounts. If a payment is not successfully settled, due to expiration, insufficient funds, or otherwise, and you do not cancel your account, we may suspend your membership until we have successfully charged your debit card. We may re-attempt unsuccessful direct debits or contact you seeking instructions. Any dishonour fees incurred against your account by your financial institution are your responsibility. c. Cheque: For one off single payments you may send in a cheque to GPO Box 3156, Canberra, ACT 2601 in the name of Diabetes Australia. No recurring or monthly payments can be made via cheque. d. BPAY. You can pay your membership fee via BPAY through your online banking account. The Biller code is 127449. The reference code is unique to you and you can find this on the printed membership form mailed to you or on your renewal email. No recurring or monthly payments can be made via BPAY. e. Australia Post Billpay. You can pay your membership fee by taking your printed membership form, mailed to you to any Australia Post office. They will scan the barcode on your form. 4.3.1.2 Updating your Payment Methods Diabetes Australia will use the latest credit card details you have supplied to us for all recurring payments with Diabetes Australia. This includes all Membership and donation payments. If you have previously provided a different credit card to us for recurring payments (membership or donations), please note that this will now be replaced with the new credit card details. Contact details appear at the end of this notice. 4.4 Upgrading to YOUnited Legacy member: You can upgrade to a YOUnited Legacy membership at any stage during your current membership by calling 1800 177 055. The full advertised price will be charged and no refund will be given for any remaining portion of your yearly membership fee left remained unused (annual payments) or unpaid (monthly payments). 4.5 Cancellation / ceasing to be a member: You can cancel your membership at any time. To the extent permitted by the applicable law, membership payments are non-refundable and we do not provide refunds or credits for any partial membership periods. To cancel your membership, defer payments of your membership or make alterations to your membership, please contact Diabetes Australia, contact details appear at the end of this notice. Please note we require five days’ notice to process any adjustments. Terms and conditions relating to cancellation / ceasing to be a general Member can be found within the Constitution. Members who cancel their Diabetes YOUnited Plus or Legacy membership will cease to be a member of Diabetes Australia. If you wish to remain a member (with no fees payable, and no voting rights), you can request to change your membership to become a Community Member (ie the Diabetes YOUnited Essential membership) by contacting us using the details set out below. If an applicable annual membership fee is not received one month after the due date, we will send a reminder notice to you. If the fee remains unpaid two months after any reminder notice is sent, you will cease to be a member from that date. 5. Changes to membership benefits and fees We may change these terms or our membership categories, services and pricing from time to time. You will be given 30 days’ notice of any change. 6. Changing membership details Only the named Member, parent or guardian of a member under 18 years of age or person authorised in writing by the named member may request a change in membership details. 7. Membership verification All members are issued with a unique membership number. In circumstances where you are unable to remember your membership number, please contact Diabetes Australia. Contact details appear at the end of this notice. 8. Privacy Policy Protecting your privacy and ensuring that you control the way your information is used is our priority. We want to make sure you are fully informed about the way we handle your information. In this policy we explain the different types of personal information we collect, how we may collect and use it, who we may share it with, and the rights you have over your information. Diabetes Connect As a Diabetes YOUnited Essential, Plus or Legacy Member you have access to Diabetes Connect. By joining and using Diabetes Connect, you agree that you have read and will follow these terms, conditions and the Diabetes Connect community guidelines. You also agree to only post discussions, shared files and content that is suited to this forum and medium.
