Join the OzDAFNE program 11 December 2021 Diabetes NSW & ACT is inviting you to join the OzDAFNE program, a five-day course that helps you manage type 1 diabetes by working out how much insulin you need for the amount of carbohydrate eaten. Facilitated by a trained dietitian and diabetes nurse educator, this program is specifically for people with type 1 diabetes using multiple daily injections. This practical five-day course aims to help you manage your diabetes by working out how much insulin you need for the amount of carbohydrate eaten. You will also receive practical tips and advice about other aspects of living with type 1 diabetes such as how to manage exercise, illness and hypoglycaemia. OzDAFNE has been running in Europe for many years and was brought to Australia in 2005. Participants have seen benefits in a variety of key areas of diabetes management from improved HbA1c to a reduction in severe hypoglycaemic events. Mark Wittman said the OzDAFNE course he attended changed his life with diabetes. “The facilitators were courteous, professional and very knowledgeable … They were both genuinely interested in my circumstances. I learned more in a week than I have in the past year.” Other participants commented: “It was amazing! Emotional, but amazing.” and “The course was excellent. It was also good to hear of others’ journeys and experiences.” For more information about OzDAFNE, visit www.dafne.org.au.
