Fluffy White Bread” advert on Southern Cross Austereo – clarification 31 August 2026 Between late-May and early-August 2026, Diabetes Australia published a radio advert concerning ‘Fluffy White Bread’ on the Southern Cross Austereo network as part of our “Ultra Processed Foods” (UPF) media campaign. The Fluffy White Bread advert was one of several adverts in our UPF series. From 10 August 2026 onwards, we made changes to the original advert to remove references to specific manufacturing processes which we now understand do not all apply to white breads manufactured in Australia. Our new advert is a more generalised statement concerning industrial processes and the use of additives, which continues to demonstrate that fluffy white bread is classified as an UPF under the NOVA food classification system. Please refer to our website for more details about the fastest growing chronic health condition in Australia.
